* Amma (Japanese Massage) : Japanese Massage is wonderfully effective in relieving fatigue and strain in the muscles of the body. Japanese people have this treatment when they are tired from overwork. Some Japanese blind people are trained in this art of massage so that they can earn a livelihood .
* Hari (Acupuncture) : Acupuncture is a healing art commonly called "Hari" in Japan. Hari,which originated in China , has been in use for more than 1300 years in this country. A special needle (silver or gold) is used to stimulate to the nerves or muscles of the body for the purpose of healing many kinds of diseases. This treatment often has a wonderful, curative effect on conditions such as neuralgia, lumbago, headaches, toothaches, stiff neck and so on.
From ancient times blind people have learned this art and even today many blind people are successful in this line.
* Kyu (Moxibustion): This treatment also came from China in ancient times. This is a method of curing diseases by burning cones of moxa (leaves of Yomogi grass) on the skin at specific points (keiketu). It is believed that the resulting heat makes the body react and adjust any physical irregularities. Moxa treatment is regarded as an effective means of health maintenance.
